Considered one of America’s top ten ski resorts, the lifts at Montana’s Big Sky Resort quickly transport skiers and snowboarders up the slopes of regal Lone Mountain, Andesite Mountain, and Flat Iron Mountain, all of which offer up to 4,350 vertical feet of descent on 5,850 acres of terrain.

In 1995 the Lone Peak Dopplemayr Tram began transporting the daring to Lone Mountain’s 11,166 summit.

The 15-person tram, shaped like a large soup can, carries the brave up and out onto advanced, expert, and extreme terrain, including south facing skiing.

Lone Peak terrain has been described by expert skiers and snowboarders as European-like, open-face skiing and snowboarding, with couloirs extreme pitches, and chutes upwards of 50 degrees above Big Ski Resort.

Ski Magazine gives Big Sky Resort #1 for terrain in North America because of its challenging chutes and gullies.
